Preparing for a Bathroom Remodel

photo-of-a-bathroom-1909791.jpg

Your bathroom should be far more than just a practical space. Instead, your bathroom should be a comforting oasis, carefully designed to reflect the style of your home. Whether you love an elegant design that harkens back to the aristocracy of old, or you are enamored with modern minimalism, your bathroom should implement your specific style.

At RHR Builders, we are passionate about helping design and implement luxury bathrooms. From the very first moment you speak with our interior specialist to the last finishing touch we put on your home, you can count on our team for industry expertise.

If you are thinking of investing in a bathroom remodel, check out the following tips which outline how you can best prepare for this renovation in your home.

Start with a List of Must-Haves

The first place to begin when preparing for a bathroom remodel is with your list of must-haves. By sitting down and creating a physical, written-out list, you can better guide your conversation with a designer down the road.

When creating your list of must-haves, begin with the following important items.

  • The desired overall style: Begin by thinking about the specific style you want to achieve with your remodel. Are you hoping to match it to your primary bedroom? Are you looking for an entirely new take? Do you have any pictures of other bathroom styles that you’d like to mimic? As you write down details about the style you are looking for, think about the feel of the room and the dream you have for the space. Don’t let the current layout, design, or style hamper your vision. We can change all of this during construction, thanks to our residential general contractors.

  • The features wanted: A big part of your bathroom is the fixtures and features found within it. Make sure you list out any items that you want incorporated into the design. For example, are you hoping to have a jacuzzi tub or a rainfall shower? Do you want a double vanity or a specific style of toilet? Write down all of the features you want your bathroom to offer by the end of the renovation.

  • The storage space needed: Bathrooms often store a variety of everyday items. From towels to hair styling tools, you might need specific amounts of storage to keep the visible areas clutter-free. Include these needs on your list.

  • Any specific extras: Beyond just the normal features found in a bathroom, are there any extras you are hoping to add? This is where you can let your imagination run wild. There is no limit to what you can incorporate into your bathroom remodel.

Sit Down with an Interior Designer

Once you have your list of must-haves and your vision for your bathroom outlined, it is time to sit down with an expert. An interior designer can help you turn your thoughts into a realistic plan. Not only that, but an interior designer will know what details will help pull the entire room together.

Working with a company, such as ours at RHR Builders, who can offer you an in-house interior designer makes the process even easier. This ensures that the interior designer has the same industry expertise as the team who will be executing the project.

Hire Your Team and Clean Out the Space

After you have put together the plan for your bathroom remodel, it is time to hire a team to tackle the project. Be sure you spend time carefully considering who your renovation team will be. You want to seek out a company that is reputable and focused on outstanding customer service.

Once your team is hired, it is time to clean out the room and get it ready for the project to begin. Your remodeling contractors will be able to provide you with a time frame of when they will need the space to be ready and how long the project should take.

  • Remind yourself of the amazing project yet to come: Whether it’s a vision board, yoga class or mindfulness app, prepare yourself to stress less about the project construction. Keep the designs close by to help yourself see past the construction and remember why you’re doing this big project in the first place. A peaceful remodel is the best remodel.

  • Ask questions early and often: We’re a friendly bunch here at RHR Builders, and we love to go above and beyond to make sure we’re not disrupting your lives more than needed to do our job well. Ask us questions so that we’re all prepared for the project. This way you’ll know what to expect when it comes to things like the hours our crew will be on the job, where we will park, a place to set up a workstation, how to manage any changes and more. We’re pretty forthcoming with this info, anyway, but consider this your open invitation to ask us anything that may be on your mind about the project.

  • Pack like you’re actually moving out: In the day or two before your bathroom remodel contractor is set to start, move everything out of the bathroom. Treat it like any other residential move, and pack your belongings in boxes to keep things organized and out of the way. Get everything out of the bathroom, and I mean everything! Pack up drawers, cupboards, shower supplies, shelves and mirrors (if not built in), bath toys, you name it. Keep the essentials handy, and store everything else away from the project area.

  • Set up an alternative bathroom space: Given that the bathroom is such a functional piece of the house, it’ll be important for your routines and happiness that you set up an alternative bathroom space from the construction site. This one is easy if you have additional bathrooms in your home. If you have only the one bathroom, some good alternatives are to ask neighbors/friends/family to share, leverage the locker rooms at the gym, or plan a mini-vacation and enjoy a few days away during the home remodel project.

A bathroom remodel is a great way to take an important part of your home and turn it around from simply being a practical space to being a comforting oasis. Talk to our team at RHR Builders today to find out more about our bathroom remodeling services.

Why You Should Focus on Outdoor Living Space in 2020

Thinking of renovating your outdoor living space? Check out why you should shift your focus to the great outdoors.

Whether you are a nature enthusiast who enjoys spending your early mornings watching the birds in your yard, or you are someone who loves hosting big get togethers and family events, your outdoor living space should be a place of pride.

An outdoor living space is so much more than just a patio or a simple table with chairs. It is an extension of your home. Here, you can spend time enjoying both the comfort of home as well as the beauty of the outdoors.

If your outdoor living space hasn’t been a top renovation priority in the past, now is the time to reconsider how you are using this space. Here at RHR Builders, we take pride in assisting homeowners in Southlake and surrounding areas with creating an outdoor living space they love.

Check out the top reasons why you should focus on your outdoor living space in 2020, and reach out for a project quote today.

More Time Spent at Home

Home is a place that should allow for ultimate relaxation with those you love. It is a place to let go of the rest of the world and to focus instead on the blessings of the moment before you.

An outdoor living space allows you to embrace more time at home in a meaningful way. Whether your house is located in the center of town or on a rolling property, nature can be found in your own backyard. A renovated outdoor living space makes it more enjoyable to spend time there. Whether you opt for a fully decked out kitchen or a smaller area for entertainment, renovating your outdoor living space allows you to incorporate important features that make the space more usable.

For example, the installation of beautiful overhead fans can help keep the air cooler on warm evenings. The right seating can make the area more relaxing. Let your imagination run wild and envision the features that will help you enjoy more time spent in your own backyard.

Improved Opportunity for Entertainment

Entertaining friends and family is a joy for many of us. Rather than being stuck inside with guests on a beautiful day, an updated outdoor living space offers you improved opportunities for entertainment.

From hosting birthday parties to holidays, an outdoor living space can be crafted with entertainment in mind. As you remodel this space, think about the features that will make entertainment more enjoyable. Perhaps it is the installation of an outdoor kitchen, allowing the chef of the home to prepare food while hanging out with the guests. Maybe is the addition of a large dining table that makes eating outside as elegant as indoors. When renovating an outdoor living space, keep entertainment top of mind.

A Better Flow of Design

If you have a beautifully remodeled interior to your home, why would you not carry this flow into the outside of your home? Renovating your outdoor living space can ensure that your home’s design is carried from the front door to the backyard.

Think about the elements you love most in your home. Now picture how this design can be implemented in your outdoor living space. From stainless steel appliances to specific stone materials, the options are endless for providing a smooth design flow to your outdoor living space.

Added Value to Your Property

Whether you plan to sell your home in the near future or far down the road, improving your outdoor living space is a great way to add value to your property. A well-thought out design can ensure you receive the best return on your investment possible.

If you are thinking of renovating your outdoor living space, let our team know. We are experts in assisting homeowners with the redesign of this valuable space.
